Certain ingredients tend to cause a buildup of cells within pores which, over time, form a blockage that can lead to a pimple. These ingredients are called comedogenic.
Independent labs can perform a test over time to see if a product is comedogenic but the term remains completely unregulated. At this time, the FDA does not specify which ingredients should be labelled as comedogenic, there are no organizations or standardized methods to verify the claim, etc.
Because we formulate our products using clean, purely processed ingredients, and avoid ingredients like silicones, petrochemicals and parabens (just to name a few!), we are confident saying our products do not clog pores or cause pimples. Plus, we've received incredible feedback over the years from customers who've struggled with acne.
Good to Know:
A comedogenic product can actually take several months to cause a breakout because it requires a gradual buildup of cells. If you experience a reaction to a new product right away, it is likely an irritant, rather than a comedogenic (pore clogging) issue.
As a reminder, we understand the importance of trial when it comes to skin care and offer a 30 day "love it guarantee" so you can really get a feel for the performance and experience of each product. We are also totally transparent about the ingredients we use, and avoid, in our formulas.
